John Smith’s Musical Offerings

Some songs take weeks to finish; others come pouring out like they’ve been waiting to be written forever. ‘Down Bad’ was the latter. It came to life during one of the hardest moments of my life, when I felt like everything had been stripped away. Sitting in front of my computer, I layered the haunting synths and whisper-like vocals, trying to capture that feeling of hitting rock bottom but somehow still breathing.

The low synths mirror the weight I felt on my chest, while the distant echoing drums represent the heartbeat that kept me moving forward. It’s somber, yes, but it’s also a song about survival—about the strength you find when there’s nothing else left. When you listen to ‘Down Bad,’ I hope you hear your own resilience, too. Because we’ve all been there, and sometimes, music is what helps us get back up.
